World Cup: Gov Ambode Pays for 50 Stranded Nigerians to Return Home

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has paid for the flights tickets of 50 Nigerians stranded in Russia to return home.

This comes after over 400 Nigerians were left in the cold in Russia having being duped by fraudsters with fake passes for the Russia World Cup.

But in a chat with the BBC, Oluremi Banwo Kehinde, the founder of an anti-trafficking NGO says Ambode paid for flight tickets of 50 out of the 200 stranded Nigerians who were at the airport at the time he landed.

Kehinde said the Governor paid from his own purse to ensure those stranded Nigerians in the airport fly home.

This is as the NGO is calling on the Federal Government and other well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the remaining stranded citizens.
