Wiz Khalifa says he has Korean friends and never meant to offend anyone in his Rolling Papers 2 album which was released last week, July 13.
The drama started shortly after the album dropped and The Korea Times reported that some Koreans could be offended by a lyric on the album cut Hot Now, where Khalifa raps, “Smoke got my eyes lookin’ Korean.”
Addressing the criticism during a sit-down with the crew of The Breakfast Club, the rapper shot down any idea of him being racist, however he refused to apologize for the wordplay.
“Chill out, I’m not racist. I love all races,” he said on the radio show, adding, “I have Korean friends who are not offended, so I don’t know those people who are saying that. My art is up for interpretation.”
But is that explanation acceptable?
