There seemingly is no bad blood between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
Last night, photographers caught the two female rappers in conversation, with designer Jeremy Scott watching them, and it looked like things went well between them.
This interesting update quickly stirred up excited reactions on social media, especially since Nicki’s Beats 1 interview where she revealed how Cardi ‘really really hurt’ her.
Recall that the two rappers dropped a collaborative project, Motorsport, with Migos last year, rumours started making rounds that the No Frauds rapper didn’t want to shoot the video with Cardi. Nicki tried to dismiss the accusation, but matter was made worse when Cardi gave a shady interview, saying that Nicki changed her verse in the song after she, Cardi, submitted hers.
The comment added to the fire of the bandwagon hate against Nicki; she was painted as the bad person who didn’t want the younger one to shine, and sadly Quavo(who originally collaborated with Nicki on the song), did nothing to quell the hate campaign.
And so, in her interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1, Nicki shed light on all that happened, saying: “The only thing with Cardi that really, really, really hurt my feelings was the first interview she did after ‘MotorSport’ came out. With ‘MotorSport,’ I kinda felt ambushed. The first thing that came out of her mouth about a Nicki Minaj feature was ‘she changed the verse’ … When it was time to clear the air about that, no one did that. All of them allowed me to look like I lied.”
The rap queen also clarified that the reason she and Cardi did not film together was because of scheduling conflict due to them both using the same hairstylist. “I said to him, ‘You know if I don’t show up, they’re gonna think it’s because I’m doing it to be mean’ … They [Migos and Cardi] all knew that and still did interviews and jumped around it just to paint Nicki as the bad person so you could play the victim. That really, really, really hurt me because I really supported her,” Nicki said.
Nicki continued, breaking down in tears: “Up until this recent interview that she did, I had never seen her show me genuine love. I could just imagine how many girls wish they could have been on a song with Nicki Minaj. I’m not saying in it a cocky way, but yikes … It’s because of the Nicki hate train that she felt like she could speak about me in that manner.”
Well, Nicki said she holds no grudges, and she shouted out Cardi, congratulating her for her recent successes.
And she really holds no grudge, because the two stars hung out last night, easing the brewing tension among their fan bases.
