After her surprise declaration for president on the platform of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, says her party is fighting for the soul of Nigeria.
Speaking during an appearance on a ChannelsTV programme Monday, the country was suffering because the leaders lacked vision.
“(2019) elections are going to be tough and brutal, but we are going to give it everything that we have because we are fighting for the soul of Nigerian,
“Nigeria is being led by people who cannot think big”, she said.
Ezekwesili, a co-founder of the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ movement and a former Minister of Education argued that the nation’s political class is irresponsible and couldn’t care less about the sufferings of the masses.
She decried the high rate of poverty in Africa’s most populous country, before calling on the citizens to join her movement to create a new nation.
“There is a strong apartheid out there for a new nation. We are going to get a new nation, we are going to walk the street, we are going to walk everywhere.
“We are going to do what it takes. We know that even the divine is tired of seeing Nigeria fail. We are running to win. I am not running because I am Oby Ezekwesili, we are running.”
Ezekwesili earlier explained that she joined the presidential race because the All Progressives Congres (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed in governance.
She also stated that the message of her party (ACPN) and her campaign is that of hope with the hashtag #Hope2019.
