Donald Glover has finally dropped the visuals for his highly anticipated song, ‘This Is America’, of his Childish Gambino album which doesn’t yet have a name yet.
The single, the rapper-actor starts out performing his normal, carefree persona which horrifically is punctuated by taking guns and mowing down unsuspecting people around him.
Gambino seemingly references a number of recent flashpoints involving police brutality, white supremacy, and racialized violence, the lynching of black men, the Charleston shooting, and also the Black Lives Matter protests.
In the end, the artist is shown fleeing a scene, his face masked in horror. He’s “just a black man, just a barcode” running for his life in America.
