Uche Jombo has joined the host of Nigerians lamenting the ban handed to Samson Siasia by Fifa, following claims that the Nigerian legend was involved in match-fixing.
Recall that the former Nigerian coach was also fined $50,000 by Fifa for agreeing to “the manipulation of matches.” And he was found “guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches.”
This sanction stems from an ongoing ‘large-scale investigation’ Fifa is conducting into the behaviour of Wilson Raj Perumal, a convicted match-fixer from Singapore. Read all about it here.
The news quickly stirred heated conversations on social media, with filmmaker Jombo noting how badly this will affect Nigeria’s image abroad.
“This Samson Siasia matter is bad for naija football…handed a life ban by FIFA and fined $50k for “accepting” to take bribes to manipulate games,” she wrote.

In one fell swoop the world shits on your role models. Invictus Obi was the entrepreneur you wanted to be like,Samson siasia was the honourable coach we all loved. Are there true role models in this country at all?

If this is true then, this is too bad. Damaging not only your image, but Nigeria as a country.
