Twitter on Fire after United Sack Mourinho

Manchester United sent shockwaves across the football world Tuesday by firing manager Jose Mourinho.

The Red Devils have made their worst start to a season in almost 30 years, and the 3-1 defeat at rivals Liverpool – which left them 19 points behind their opponents – proved to be the final nail in the Portuguese’s coffin at Old Trafford.

Despite having reached the Champions League knockout stages — United face a scary last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain — a mix of the results, dressing-room discord and criticism of the board’s transfer policy proved crucial factors in the decision to dismiss him.

It’s the fourth time the 55-year-old Portuguese would be fired from a club in his third season – having lost the job at Chelsea in his two spells, and at Real Madrid.

His latest dismissal has triggered a flood of reactions from across the football world
