Forbes-celebrated Nigerian young entrepreneur, Obinwanne Okeke popularly known as Invictus Obi, has dominated the headlines over the past 24 hours – for all the wrong reasons.
Viral reports on Friday say Invictus Obi is being charged with conspiracy to commit computer fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and he was allegedly arrested during a visit to the US by the FBI.
A darling of Nigerian celebrities and artistes – including a-listers like Wizkid and Banky W – Invictus Obi has become the butt of all jokes in the wake of his stunning arrest.
In the wake of his fall from grace, Nigerians have been reacting on Twitter, with some condemning his alleged fraudulent act, while others called on the Nigerian security agencies to learn from the FBI.
Many have also called out the celebrities for their double standard. Citing the case of Naira Marley with the EFCC, Nigerians claimed the celebrities would be beside themselves with rage and call for his release were he arrested by local security agencies.
Some also argued that the celebrities are being careful not to soil their names because of the gravity of the allegations levelled against him, as this may hinder some of them from entering the US.
Popular fashion blog Bella Naija has also reportedly deleted a 2018 post where it celebrated Obi as its ‘Man Crush Monday’ (MCM).
Check out some of the reactions below…
The Irony about the FBI's investigation that led to "Invictus Obi" arrest is that;
Invictus claims to have a Master's in Forensic Criminology and Cyber studies.
But was caught only from his recovery email.

No matter how bad Invictus Obi's fraud is, it isn't remotely near what Bernie Madoff or Elizabeth Holmes managed to pull off.
And no, we are not the worst people on earth.
That doesn't mean we are angels.

This Invictus Obi's story clearly shows that Yahoo Yahoo boys can operate anywhere- even wearing suits. That's why I hardly believe all these influencers giving Tedx Talks if I can't trace their sources of income. Most of them do Yahoo as a major side hustle. Run your own race!

A lot of lessons to be learnt from the Invictus Obi vs Forbes Saga.
– Not all that glitters is Gold – Never believe all the inspire to aspire inorder to expire nonsense, Believe your Legitimate hustle alone – People will only rate you only when it’s rosy for you. Be smart pic.twitter.com/WoU0j5JdKg

Invictus Obi that aspires to acquire so as to inspire your desire
Then there is Convictus Obi that Acquire your card, so he can wire and build his empire.
Let's not confuse the two, They caught Convictus Obi not Invictus Obi.

This whole #Invictus obi story reminds me of Noble Igwe's outburst last year. I remember him calling out many rich people as fraudsters & people trolling him on social media platforms. The chicken has come home to roost.
