Yesterday, Jack Dorsey’s verified Twitter account was hacked by a group that refers to itself as “Chuckle Squad.”
According to The Verge, the compromised account displayed a series of aggressive and offensive tweets, including messages with the N-word, one that defended Adolf Hitler, and another that threatened to blow up Twitter’s headquarters. Some of the posts were retweets from accounts of those who were suspected of carrying out the hack.
The outlet also noted that the messages appeared to have been sent through Cloudhopper, a third-party service that allows users to tweet via text message.
The group also invited Dorsey’s 4.2 million followers to join their Discord server and “Chuckle with us.”
Speaking with The Verge, a Twitter rep said: “Both the server and the server owner were permanently removed from Discord within minutes of this being reported to us.”
The hackers’ tweets have since been removed, and an investigation into this hack has been launched.
We're aware that @jack was compromised and investigating what happened.
