James Lambert Otis, the man who destroyed Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2016 has gone and bailed out 24-year-old Austin Clay, who smashed the star with a pickaxe yesterday.
Recall that Otis made headlines in October 2016 after he used a pickaxe and sledgehammer to deface the star, two weeks before the election. Otis said he was doing it in support of women who had accused Trump of sexual assault. He eventually was charged with felony vandalism. He pleaded no contest to felony vandalism and then was sentenced to three years of probation, as well as 20 days of community service. Otis also had to pay around $4,000 for the damage.
Fast-forward to yesterday when Clay smashed the star to rubble yesterday and called the Beverly Hills Police to report the vandalism before leaving the scene. He was eventually arrested and his bail was set at $20,000.
Folks set up a GoFundMe page to raise the bail money, but Otis showed up for Clay and paid the money, showing solidarity with the young activist.
It is unclear when Clay will be arraigned in court, but Trump’s star has already been replaced.
