The felony criminal charge filed against singer Trey Songz which was rejected by the District Attorney last month has also been dropped by the Los Angeles City Attorney.
In case you missed it: the singer was accused by his ‘occasional’ girlfriend, Andrea Buera, of violently assaulting her during a jealous rage. In the report she filed with the police, Buera said they have been together for several years, but trouble began on February 17 after they hung out at a nightclub in Los Angeles and he became enraged by her conversation with another man. When they returned to Trey’s rental house, he allegedly charged at her, repeatedly hit her, before tossing her two phones down a cliff, and then he returned later to apologise and also offer her $2,000 to buy new phone.
She filed for a restraining order, and was granted the request.
Early last month, Trey Songz denied the accusations. “I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain,” he tweeted. And days later, the District Attorney dropped the case.
Now, all of the charges brought against Trey Songz have been dismissed, as TMZ reports. After the L.A. District Attorney dismissed the case, it referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney to determine if misdemeanor charges should be filed. The L.A. City Attorney has also rejected the case.
TMZ adds that Trey Songz’s lawyer Shawn Holley gave “numerous witness statements” to LAPD that contradicted Buera’s account.
