Asisat Oshoala scored a hat-trick as the Super Falcons blitzed Equatorial Guinea 6-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the 11th AWCON in Ghana.
The holders finished second in Group B with six points behind the Banyana Banyana of South Africa who top the group with seven points after their 1-1 draw with Zambia.
Veteran forward Francisca Ordega opened scoring in the 10th minute, and Oshoala doubled Falcons lead three minutes later.
The two-time African footballer of the year got two other strikes in the 22nd and 44th minutes respectively as she shrugged off her earlier torpor.
France-based forward, Desire Oparanozie scored Nigeria’s fifth goal of the game three minutes after the restart, and diminutive midfielder, Rita Chikwelu completed the scoring three minutes after the hour mark.
In the group’s other game, South Africa were held to a 1-1 draw by the Shepolopolo of Zambia.
Thembi Kgatlana opened scoring for the Banyana Banyana in the eighth minute, while Racheal Kundananji equalised for the Zambians two minutes later.
The Super Falcons will face Cameroon in the semi-final on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium, while Banyana Banyana will go toe to toe with Algeria for a place in the final.
The top three sides will represent Africa at the Women World Cup holding next year in France.
