A Manchester United fan who was stabbed Wednesday in Paris is recovering from surgery, with the hope being he can return home at the start of next week.
The 44-year-old was reportedly attacked in a taxi after United sensationally knocked Paris Saint-Germain out of the Champions League last 16.
British media report that The Red Devils have been in contact with his family and are monitoring the situation.
A club spokesperson said: “We were shocked to hear about the incident with one of our fans who was stabbed while in Paris for the Champions League game. Everyone at the club wishes him well during his recovery.”
The supporter is being treated at the Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou in Paris and the British Foreign Office has reportedly contacted the French authorities regarding the incident.
United defied the odds to overturn a 2-0 first-leg Champions League last 16 deficit to PSG, with a late Marcus Rashford penalty securing a 3-1 victory at the Pars des Princess.
