Super Eagles handler Gernot Rohr looks set to stick with World Cup first choice goalie Francis Uzoho for the crucial African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Seychelles later today.
In defence, SC Paderborn of Germany left-back, Jamilu Collins and Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu look set to make their debut for the Super Eagles as both uncapped players have been impressive in training.
Collins looks a certainty to start at left-back in the encounter, while Kalu will be deployed on the right flank, with Leon Balogun set to partner Kenneth Omeruo in the centre of defence.
In midfield, Rohr is spoilt for choice, but it’s looking like a midfield three of Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Nwakali – who will be making his full debut.
Joel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi and John Ogu may be called upon depending on how the game unfolds.
It remains to be seen if Odion Ighalo will return to the starting line-up after losing his place in the team during the Fifa World Cup where Nigeria’s campaign was highlighted by his glaring misses.
Ahmed Musa may partner Kelechi Iheanacho up front, but Ighalo may yet be drafted in a three-pronged attack as the Eagles go for the kill.
The game between the Pirates and the Eagles comes up at 1:30 pm Nigerian time.
