Sen. Ademola Adeleke wins Osun PDP Governorship Ticket

Senator Ademola Adeleke, the lawmaker representing Osun West district in the National Assembly, has won the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to the primary result announced by the Chairman of the Election Committee and Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, Adeleke defeated three other aspirants in the exercise held in Osogbo, the state capital

The charismatic senator polled a total of 1,569 votes to edge out his closest rival Dr Akin Ogunbiyi who scored 1,562 votes. Other top contenders Fatai Akinbade and Nathaniel Oke came in third and fourth.

He will now go up against Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as candidates of other political parties in the September 22 governorship election.

The exercise, involving about 3,000 delegates from various wards across the local government areas of the state, was generally hitch free but when some delegates demanded a recount of the ballot it was declined by Governor Dickson.

Eleven aspirants had indicated interest to represent the party in September, but seven of the candidates later pulled out citing the need to ensure stronger bond in the party.
