Rooney Bloodied after Opening DC United Account

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney scored his first goal for DC United and also broke his nose in a 2-1 home win over Colorado Rapids in the MLS weekend.

Rooney, 32, scored the opener when he powered a shot through ex-United teammate and former USA goalie Tim Howard’s legs.

Kellyn Acosta equalised before Howard twice denied DC United skipper Rooney to keep the score even.

A Niki Jackson own goal in stoppage time gave DC United the win before Rooney broke his nose while defending minutes later.

The former England captain later tweeted he was “delighted to score my first goal for DC United”, adding that he had acquired “a broken nose and five stitches”.

Sounds like a busy day at the office for Wazza…
