Rihanna Plans to Release a Dancehall Album; Here’s All We Know About It!

A dancehall album by Rihanna may be dropping anytime.

Rolling Stone reports that the singer’s team and her label Roc Nation have been going through some “500 records” searching for a new full-on dancehall album. The report cited anonymous producers and other sources close to the team who have said that many dancehall and reggae icons have been submitting their tracks over the past year and a half for Rihanna’s team to choose from.

And some of the writers and producers working on this 10-track album project include Supa Dups (Drake, Nicki Minaj), R. City (Beyoncé, Simple Plan), Tyshane “Beam” Thompson (Yo Gotti), Skrillex, Boi-1da, and Kranium.

“If the Rihanna album sells great numbers, faith will be restored in the [dancehall] genre as something to be invested in,” one source, an unnamed producer, said.

Another source added that there are secret “writing camps” in Miami and Los Angeles. “[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers,” the source claimed. “They’re only choosing 10 records.”

Rolling Stone further added that Rihanna is also prepping a more traditional pop album.

For now, no one knows when the dancehall album will drop, or even when Rihanna will release new music. However, fans are loyally waiting to see what will come out from her camp’s effort.
