The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Quincy Jones, Oprah Winfrey, and Steven Spielberg are teaming up to produce the musical film of Alice Walker’s seminal work, The Color Purple.
According to the network, the work was adapted into a Broadway musical in 2005. Now, the musical will make the jump to the big screen, and those who will make this work include Steven Spielberg, who directed the Oscar-nominated 1985 film adaptation of the novel.
Also signed on to produce are Oprah Winfrey (who made her acting debut in the original film) and Quincy Jones, who produced and composed the original soundtrack.
