Tyka Nelson claims Prince would never be pissed with Justin Timberlake for using the his image and voice during the Super Bowl halftime show., even though the legend expressly condenmed digital performances.
According to TMZ, Nelson, who is a sister to the late legend, wants Justin’s critics to back off, adding that she was ‘pleasantly surprised’ by Justin’s performance, and even enjoyed the tribute to Prince. She went on to add that she and the rest of her family members knew Justin was planning on singing I Would Die 4 U, however added that they didn’t know he was going to do a video projection.
Tyka also spoke about Prince’s beef with Justin over Sexy Back, claiming that Prince wasn’t one to hold grudges for too long. “He said what he said and kept it moving,” she said.
While Tyka struggles to convince people about what Prince would do, the legend already said his mind about dueting with deceased artists.
“That’s the most demonic thing imaginable,” Prince had said in a 1998 interview, adding, “Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing… it really is demonic. And I am not a demon. Also, what they did with that Beatles song [“Free As a Bird”], manipulating John Lennon‘s voice to have him singing from across the grave… that’ll never happen to me. To prevent that kind of thing from happening is another reason why I want artistic control.”
Well, we sure know Prince will not be forgiving Justin for meddling with his beliefs anytime soon.
