Demi Lovato was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital last night after a suspected drug overdose, TMZ is reporting.
According to the media house, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a medical emergency in the Hollywood Hills, where the pop singer lives. The 25-year-old reportedly was found unconscious and treated at the scene with Naloxone, an anti-overdose medicine, before she was taken to the hospital.
Hours after the news broke, sources close to her family revealed she was alert and breathing at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
“Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,” said her spokesperson to the BBC. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.”
This comes barely a month after she cancelled her show at London’s O2 arena hours before her concert was due to begin. Rumours had begun to swirl that she had relapsed into drug abuse in recent weeks. And in her single Sorry released last month, six years after she announced she was now clean, Demi sings:
“Mommy, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore. And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor…I’m sorry that I’m here again, I promise I’ll get help/It wasn’t my intention, I’m sorry to myself.”
Presently fans and celebrities have reached out on social media, showing their support for the troubled singer. See some of the reactions below.
