The Plateau State Police Command says it is set to arraign 19 suspects involved in the disappearance and death of retired Major General Idris Alkali, the immediate past Chief of Administration (Army).
Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tyopev Mathias, disclosed this to reporters after parading the suspects on Sunday at the Police Headquarters in Jos, the state capital.
“The suspects we have got were the ones who led us to the place. They confessed that they initially buried him and later exhumed the body, took it and dumped it into a pit, so what do you think Nigerians would need again?” he queried.
“In order to clear our name and make it abundantly clear to everybody, we have involved medical doctors and other forensic experts and investigation is ongoing and immediately we are done, we will still call the press and address them.”
He revealed that after painstaking interrogation, the Command declared eight persons wanted, including the village head of Dura Did in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
Mathias, however, said six out of the suspects declared wanted by the police have reported to the police while the other two were still at large.
He said the suspects would be charged to court according to their involvements in the matter.
