The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an alleged Internet fraudster using Facebook to defraud women by offering them jobs and marriages.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the police in the state, Haruna Mohammed, in a chat with newsmen in the state capital Awka, on Saturday.
He said the suspect prowled the internet, targeting females with Facebook accounts desiring marriages and jobs.
Mohammed said the suspect was arrested by the IGP X-Squad attached to the state command following sustained intelligence.
He added that the suspect who bore three different names, Eugene Chimeze Ohamadike, Henry Eze, and Ifeanyi Obiora, was apprehended after he was traced to his hideout in Enugu State.
Mohammed said, “He is the brain behind series of dastardly acts on social media precisely Facebook where he posed as an employee of an oil company in Port Harcourt or a senior officer of the Federal Road safety Corps.
“Some of the victims fell into his trap under the illusion that they have met an opulent young man who they will spend their lives with.”
