The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested eight suspected bandits following an attack in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu, the suspects attacked Gurbin Bore Market on Saturday evening.
“The bandits were arrested by a team of policemen when they attacked the market and abducted a native of the community,” he said in a statement.
Mr Shehu reiterated the commitment of the police in securing lives and properties in the crisis-ridden state.
“The command’s tactical teams swiftly arrived the scene, cordoned it off and rescued the victim from the bandits, while guns and other dangerous weapons were equally recovered from them,” he added.
He further disclosed that all the suspects are in Police custody undergoing interrogation after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.
The north-western state has suffered a series of devastating attacks by suspected gunmen leaving several people dead and many others injured over the past year.
In response to the incessant attacks, the Federal Government last month ordered the deployment of over 1000 special troops to the state.
