Police Invade Melaye’s Home

Over two dozen policemen invaded the Abuja residence of Senator Dino Melaye, lawmaker representing Kogi west senatorial district, on Friday.

This comes three days after the senator alleged that Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, had ordered that he be arrested and injected to death – a claim the police denied.

The invading officers first laid siege to Sangha street, off Mississippi, Maitama, where the lawmaker’s house is, before gaining entrance into his premises.

The embattled senator has taken to Twitter to narrate the encounter and also call attention of the public to it.

This is the latest turn in the long-running battle between Melaye and the Nigerian police.

Melaye is facing charges of criminal conspiracy in Kogi State after a busted gang implicated him during interrogation.
