At least 100 people were injured when two trains collided in a Johannesburg suburb, authorities say.
The horrific crash happened at the Eloff extension in the proximity of a sharp curve in Selby, a town south of Johannesburg, local media BNO News reported.
For reasons not yet known, both trains were on the same track, coming from opposite directions when they collided, according to local Povo News.
Russel Meiring, a spokesman for ambulance service ER24, told BNO News: “ER24 paramedics, along with numerous other services, arrived on the scene to find both trains upright and on the tracks.
“Numerous people had already climbed off of the train and were walking around on the scene.”
An investigation is underway.
