The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has heated up the polity after he appeared on a Channels Television programme earlier today wearing a lapel pin bearing an insignia of the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Magu’s ostentatious support for the president comes amid allegations of bias and partisanship of the nation’s security apparatus.
Since the EFCC boss went on the programme, social media has been abuzz with reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing pessimistic views of the 2019 general elections, and others calling out President Buhari for his divisive administration.
Here are some of the views on Twitter regarding Magu’s latest gaffe…
Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of EFCC; a supposedly independent institution of government, wearing a chest badge of Buhari on Channels TV this morning, typifies the hypocrisy of the Buhari-led administration.
This is unacceptable and unfortunate. pic.twitter.com/VykupiANgk

Ibrahim Magu this morning on a Channels TV programme:
That emblem on his lapel is a Buhari re-election campaign material – and this is supposed to be a public servant of an independent anti-corruption body.
Lat time this happened was under Abacha – and we know how it ended. pic.twitter.com/BhvPTMQBjL

Ibrahim Magu, EFCC Chairman is one of the main campaigners of a 2nd term for Buhari. They said if you want to get any favor from him just say, you will deliver votes for Buhari in 2019
As you can see here, he wears a campaign lapel for Buhari to a TV interview. He’s compromised pic.twitter.com/Rdmsbs7zCj

Wearing a campaign lapel of Buhari's second term is enough reason for Magu, @officialEFCC Ag. Chairman, to honorably quit his position. This primitive and bold show of partisanship by a head of an anti-corruption agency cast huge doubts in EFCC's ability to be neutral! pic.twitter.com/J81is3BtYs

How one man, in less than 4 years, delegitimize almost all the "independent" federal institutions in Nigeria; from INEC, NAFDAC, Police, Army and now EFCC, this is really sad.
Ibrahim Magu wearing a Buhari Lapel pin, next thing we'll see is INEC change their logo to broom stick
