Nigeria legends Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu are set to storm the nation’s capital Abuja for a football match in honour of the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari.
This was disclosed by the hosts of the event, the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), which said the programme organised in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF scheduled for 10th March at the National Stadium, Abuja, is in effort to support the charity work of Mrs Buhari’s foundation, Future Assured Programme.
At a press briefing on the programme yesterday, the Director General, NCWD Mrs Mary Ekpere-Eta said NCWD and UNICEF having recognised the laudable project of the first lady, is hosting the two-day programme in her support for the work she is doing especially for the Nigerian child, Daily Trust writes.
Ekpere-Eta further disclosed that the football match will feature Nigerian Super Eagles legends, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwakwo, Peter Rufai and others versus legends of FC Barcelona, including Ronaldo, Edgar Davids and others.
In his remarks, the UNICEF chief education officer, Terry Dumnian said they are supporting the programme because education is diverse, and sport has been a uniting force to bring the children together and impact on their lives.
