Mowalola Ogunlesi continues to break new grounds.
Per Bellanaija, the designer dropped out of her MA to concentrate on building her brand and had since gone on to collaborate with the likes of Kanye West, Solange, Nike, among others.
In the September issue of British Vogue, the publication celebrates Barbie’s 60th anniversary inspired by her diverse range of dolls with varying looks and body types. And to celebrate this milestone, Vogue asked six leading emerging designers, including Mowalola, to each dress up a Barbie from the new line of Barbie Fashionista dolls in an outfit inspired by their collections.
The designers were also photographed by Stas Komarovski and styled by Poppy Kain, with their respective Barbie for an exclusive feature.
Mowalola chose a miniature version of the Acid Cow dress and boots from her Spring/Summer 20 collection tagged “Coming For Blood.”
“Mine is a world where everyone is free in terms of what they wear, in terms of how they think. And my women aren’t threatened by anyone – they are taking back their power,” she told Vogue, “She is a Mowalola superhero. She’s strong and captivating and ready to have a really good time. I want to be wherever she’s going.”
