Nigeria dropped one spot to 52nd on the latest Fifa World ranking of national sides released on Thursday.
The Super Eagles accumulated 606 ranking points for the past month to place seventh on the continent, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco, Egypt and Cameroon.
It’s another unexpected slip for the Eagles on the rankings after their run to the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship where they fell to hosts Morocco.
Meanwhile, it was a different tale entirely for Nigeria’s Group D opponents at the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia as Iceland moved two placed up to no. 18 in the world – an all-time high for the Europeans, while Croatia stay three points up at 15th.
Two-time world champions Argentina continue their slip on the rankings as they are now are ranked the fourth best team in the world behind World Cup holders Germany, Brazil and reigning European champions Portugal.
The next World Ranking will be released on 15 March 2018.
