Neymar has added to his accolades after he was named as France’s player of the year at an awards ceremony in Paris on Sunday, despite the Paris Saint-Germain superstar missing the last three months of the season due to injury.
The Brazilian, who became the world’s most expensive player after his €222m switch to the French capital from Barcelona last summer, scored 19 goals in just 20 league games for PSG before suffering a foot injury in February that required surgery.
The 25-year-old beat off competition from PSG teammates Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe, along with Marseille’s Florian Thauvin.
The award comes amid growing doubts over his future in Ligue 1 after strong links with a return to Spain.
He however pledged his future to the Parisians by modelling their new kit and saying he belonged at the Parc des Princes for the time being.
