NBC Bans Falz’ Controversial Song, ‘This is Nigeria’

Daily Post is reporting that the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has banned Nigerian Musician, Falz’ song, ‘This is Nigeria.’

This reportedly was explained in a letter from the commission on August, signed by its Zonal Director, Igomu Onoja, in which the commission declared that the lyric “look how we living now everybody be criminal” is unfit for radio, and so was tagged “vulgar.”

This comes one month after the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) threatened to sue Falz over some “offensive” scenes in the video. This stirred heated reactions from Nigerians on social media, causing the Islamic body to backtrack.

Other songs banned by the NBC include Wande Cole’s Iskaba and Olamide’s See Mary, See Jesus.
