Naomi Osaka has good taste.
The tennis champion recently sat down with the crew of People, to talk, among other things, how she was able to beat her childhood hero Serena Williams at the US Open trophy.
“I hope people over [in Japan] are happy, that’s the main thing that I wish,” said the 20-year-old Haitan-Japanese champ, adding that she can be really superstitious when it comes to music she listens to during tournaments.
According to Osaka, she usually only listens to one musician before matches and only changes artists if she loses. And so, during the US Open, she chose Nick Minja’s new album Queen and Eminem’s Kamikaze. “I listened to Nicki Minaj‘s new album [Queen],” said Osaka.“And then Eminem dropped a new album [Kamikaze] so I was switching between those two. I’m genuinely more into hip-hop and rap.”
Beyonce Nicki and ‘her husband’ Eminem, Osaka noted that she had been listening to Kendrick Lamar’s music at the Washington Citi Open, and had previously revealed she is a big fan of Beyoncé. “Tell me why Beyoncé decides to have a concert in Miami at the same time as the US Open. I’m legit gonna cry,” she had tweeted.
