Five years after her last runway strut, legendary model Naomi Campbell turned heads at the Arise Fashion Week 2018 held in Lagos.
Recall that 11 years ago, Africa’s fashion industry became truly global with the birth of ARISE, the synonym for “Africa Rising”. ARISE Fashion Week helped to put Nigeria firmly on the global fashion map, showcasing and promoting African designers on the runways of the world, from London’s famous Royal Albert Hall, to Washington DC’s powerful Kennedy Center, to the legendary triple appearance during New York’s iconic Fashion Week, to vivacious Lagos and Abuja, to magnetic Johannesburg and Cape Town and to fabulous Paris.
The AFW runway had seen global fashion icons and leading models such as Naomi Campbell, Alek Wek, Liya Kedebe, Oluchi Orlandi and others showcase the best of Africa.
And at this year’s event, which began on March 30, some of the biggest names in the industry walked the runway, and then include Naomi Campbell, Oluchi Orlandi and Ojy Okpe.
Others include BBNaija‘s Leo Da Silva Richard Mofe Damijo, Olajumoke Orisaguna, and many others.
