Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has all but endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state.
Otedola made his endorsement public via a post on his Instagram handle on Saturday where he shared posted a picture of himself and Sanwo-Olu, whom he described as “my childhood friend”.
Both men had had dinner at the residence of the chairman of Forte Oil on Friday evening, before he took to Instagram to endorse the guber candidate.
“Dinner at my residence yesterday evening, with my childhood friend APC Governorship Candidate @JideSanwoOlu. GOVERNOR IN WAITING!”, Otedola captioned the picture.
His endorsement signals a marked departure from the rumours that made the rounds months back that the billionaire businessman was eyeing the governorship position in Lagos.
Nigerian media was awash with reports that the oil magnate had accepted the offer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fly its flag in the Lagos guber race.
An indigene of Epe, Otedola’s late father, Michael, was governor of Lagos in the defunct third republic.
