Morgan Freeman has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment.
According to Variety, a total of 16 people spoke to CNN about Freeman, and eight of them claim he sexually assaulted them, was inappropriate towards them, while the other eight said they witnessed the alleged misconduct.
One of the women who worked as a production assistant on the 2015 comedy film ‘Going In Style’, said the actor subjected her to unwanted touching and comments about her figure on a regular basis.
Here’s what Variety said about her claims:
“She alleges Freeman would comment on her figure and clothing, and that he would rest his hand on her lower back or rub her lower back. In one instance, she said that Freeman “kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear.” At one point, she recalled, “Alan made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say.”
Another woman, a senior production staffer of Freeman’s 2012 film, ‘Now You See Me’, said he also harassed her and other female assistants by commenting on their bodies.
“He did comment on our bodies. We knew that if he was coming by … not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted.”
The other women said they worked with the 80-year-old actor on both movie sets at his production company Revelations Entertainment, that they changed the way they dressed when they knew Freeman would be around to avoid his behavior.
Variety adds that former staffers called the studio a “toxic” work environment, and six former staffers said they they witnessed Freeman’s actions, including sexual comments and an incident of “unsolicited touching.”
The actor had yet to react to the accusations as at press time.
