Angela Ponce has set a new record.
Yesterday, the beauty queen representing Spain became the first transgender woman to compete in the Miss Universe beauty pageant. And, although she did not make the finals, she has opened doors for other transgender to showcase their beauty and intellect at the prestigious event.
Speaking with the Associated Press in July, she had said, “If my going through all this contributes to the world moving a little step forward, then that’s a personal crown that will always accompany me.”
And she has set a record.
Phillippines’ Catriona Gray was declared the winner of the 2018 Miss Universe pageant at the grand finale ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand.
