Lionel Messi netted the 50th hat-trick of his career as Barcelona came from behind to beat Sevilla 4-2 and go 10 points clear at the top of La Liga.
It was another virtuoso display from the Barca magician, who first punished the hosts with a brilliant volley from 16 yards to cancel out Jesus Navas’ opener.
The five-time ballon d’Or winner then equalised again with a curling shot from the edge of the box after being found by substitute Ousmane Dembele.
Barca were lucky to be level with the hosts and with five minutes to go, they got even luckier as their talismanic no 10 clipped the ball over goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik after substitute Carles Alena’s shot was blocked.
It was his 36th goal in 35 games against Sevilla, his favourite opponents, before he capped a masterclass performance by playing an excellent ball over the top for Suarez to end a five-game goalless run in stoppage time.
Though far from their brilliant best, Ernesto Valverde’s men still extended their lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid, who host Villarreal on Sunday, to 10 points.
Messi now he has 33 goals in 32 games – including six in the Champions League as Barcelona chase the treble.
