Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi on Monday claimed The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year gong for 2019, a record sixth recognition.
The magical no 10 pipped Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo to the prestigious award.
But the joy of the talismanic Argentine may be ruined by allegations of vote manipulation by several people.
In a shocking development, Sudan coach, Zdravko Lugarisic, claimed that he voted for Mohamed Salah as his top choice for The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award, only to find out that his vote had gone to eventual winner Lionel Messi.
Lugarisic shared an image of his voting form, as can be seen below.

Meanwhile, similar allegations were also put forward by Egypt national team star Ahmad Elmohamady, who claimed that his vote was not registered.
Mohamed Salah finished outside of the top three regardless and was bumped out before the award ceremony took place at Milan’s famous Opera House.
Messi’s recognition in Milan was his first major individual award since he picked u a fifth Fifa ballon d’Or gong in 2015 after helping Barca to a second treble.
The Barca skipper, who picked up a knock as they returned to winning ways in La Liga with a 2-1 victory over Villarreal on Tuesday, now heads towards the Ballon d’Or 2019 as favourite.
