Lionel Messi was joined on the scoresheet by seventeen-year-old Ansu Fati as Barcelona extended their lead at the top of the La Liga log with a 2-0 victory over Leganes.
Fati produced a clinical finish at an empty Nou Camp to give the Catalans the lead at the end of a laborious first half. It was his fifth goal in eight league starts.
Messi doubled the lead from the penalty spot with his 699th goal for club and country after he was fouled by Ruben Perez following a mazy run from the middle of the pitch.
The win, Barca’s second in as many games since La Liga resumed after the coronavirus break, takes them five points clear of nearest rivals Real Madrid.
Los Blancos could however cut the lead to two points if they beat Valencia at home on Thursday.
Leganes meanwhile are bottom of the table, three points from safety with nine games left.
