A week after Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed that Lionel Messi has a get-out clause in his deal, reports in Spain claim the Argentine maestro may be headed tot he MLS.
Spanish daily, Mundo Deportivo, said Monday that the Barcelona skipper could leave Camp Nou for MLS.
Messi has an annual exit option in his deal and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could swap Spain for the United States.
It comes as the Catalan giants look to offer Messi – who has been linked to David Beckham’s Inter Miami franchise – a lifetime contract.
The 32-year-old has yet to make an appearance this season having been sidelined with injury. Ernesto Valverde’s men have struggled in his absence, managing just four points from three La Liga games.
