The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 23-year old man, Taiwo Olatokunbo for killing a customer, simply identified as Christian over N200 beer.
Confirming the arrest in a statement Sunday, Police Public Relations Office, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the police at Igbeba Division from one Temitope Adedayo who ran a beer parlour at No 4 Ijagun Ijebu Ode.
She reported that the suspect came to buy a bottle of beer worth N200 but refused to pay, after which the deceased – her customer – intervened and asked the suspect to pay for the beer.
According to the bartender, the intervention of the deceased further infuriated the suspect who broke a bottle and stabbed the victim at the right elbow joint.
Upon the report, the acting DPO of Igbeba Division, SP Onah Lawrence led his Anti-crime men to the scene where the said Olatokunbo was arrested.
Though the victim was quickly rushed to a State hospital at Ijebu Ode for medical attention, he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.
WuzupNaija reports that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
