Lil Wayne wants you all to know that no one can erase Nicki Minaj’s legacy. Not now, not ever.
The Young Money boss spoke about the Barbie Dreams rapper during a recent sit-down with Billboard magazine, in which he talked about his new album ‘Tha Carter V’, the state of rap, how battles, and more.
About Nicki Minaj, who is currently embroiled in a messy beef with Cardi B, he said: “Call it bias or whatever, but to me, she’s the queen and she’ll forever be the queen, just because of how hard she works and what she came from… She’s always a queen in my eyes,” he explains.
He continued, “I think Nicki is still the queen of hip-hop simply because who she is. You have to know her like I know her, and to know everything she’s done and what she does, to be who she is and how she is and what she’s become.”
He further revealed that Nicki and Drake, both of whom have defined hip-hop’s last decade, push him to be better. “They all the way — they got it. They know how to make them joints that y’all going to be runnin’ to. I’m something else with my music. I’m coming straight at Drake’s and Nicki’s neck, Lord have mercy,” he said, laughing. “I’m talkin’ ’bout machetes. I’ma out-sing Drake, I’ma date Nicki. It’s goin’ down.”
