LeBron James believes President Donald Trump is using sports to create division throughout the United States of America.
The three-time NBA champion made this known hours after he opened his I Promise School in his hometown in Akron, Ohio.
“What I’ve noticed over the past few months,” said James to CNN’s Don Lemon during discussion on sports and politics. “He’s kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that’s something that I can’t relate to.”
The basketballer further spoke about his beginnings, how he was introduced to sports as a child, and this gave him his first real opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds and races.
“I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got the opportunity to learn about me … And I was like, ‘Oh wow, this is all because of sports,'” James said.
James strongly believed that sports used to be unifying force, but things are changing and it is all thanks to President Trump and his penchant for controversies and how he enjoys using sports as a tool for racial divisions.
