Lauryn Hill has filed a lawsuit against her cousin, Gerald Hill, for failing to pay back the $65, 000 loan she gave him.
According to documents obtained by Bossip, Gerald had collected the money on condition that he would pay back, but later told the rapper-singer that he had no intentions of paying the loan back.
This prompted Ms. Hill to lawsuit against him last month in New Jersey for breach of contract, noting in the documents that the condition of the loan was that Gerald would not pay interest if he paid her back within a three month period. However, if the repayment exceeded the three month period, he was required to pay 10 percent interest. Gerald signed the contract; he allegedly needed the money o get his Maplewood, NJ home out of foreclosure, but now has refused to pay back.
Now, Ms. Hill is seeking to get back the full $65,000 along with interest and money damages for the losses Gerald’s failed repayment plan has caused.
And this comes just as the Doo Wop singer canceled some of her upcoming tour dates. The tour is to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
