Alexandre Lacazette netted a late equaliser as Arsenal held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates draw to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games.
It was the first big test for Unai Emery’s side since their winning streak began in August, and they gave the fans plenty to cheer about in a pulsating game in North London.
James Milner struck just after the hour – after Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno’s weak clearance rebounded off Rob Holding – to put unbeaten Liverpool on course for victory.
But Lacazette had other ideas and drew the Gunners level eight minutes from time with a superb finish on the turn following a delightful pass from substitute Alex Iwobi.
The point puts Liverpool back on top of the Premier League on 27 points – one clear off second placed City who host Southampton on Sunday, while Arsenal remain fourth on 21 points.
