Ogere Betty, mother of Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles player and coach, has been freed by her abductors.
The Bayelsa state police command confirmed her release in a statement on Sunday, though it did not immediately give details of the development.
Ogere Betty was on July 15 kidnapped at her Odoni residence in Sagbama, Bayelsa state, alongside two others.
A distraught Siasia had recently made a plea to the authorities in the state to facilitate her release from the kidnappers’ den, 10 weeks after she was abducted.
The 76-year-old had been kidnapped in November 2015 but regained her freedom 13 days later.
