The former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has been granted N50 million bail by the Federal High court sitting in Lagos.
In continuation of his travails since leaving office October 15, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arraigned the ex-governor on an 11-count bordering on abuse of office and embezzlement of public funds.
Fayose, among other allegations, is accused of receiving illegal monies to fund his 2014 governorship campaign in Ekiti State.
But at the resumed hearing Wednesday, Morenikeji Olatoregun, the presiding judge, granted him bail.
His second appearance before the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, lasted less than 30 minutes.
The former governor was asked, as part of his bail conditions, to provide a surety who must have landed property in Lagos. The guarantor is also required to have three-year tax clearance in Lagos.
