Just In: Acting APC Chairman, Giadom, cancels Edo primary

The Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom has cancelled the screening for the Edo State governorship primary held last week.

Mr. Giadom, who claimed to have the backing of the members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), had earlier taken over as the party’s Acting National Chairman after the APC on Tuesday elevated Sen. Abiola Ajimobi to serve as its acting National Chairman.

The seismic turn of events comes after the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja also on Tuesday affirmed the suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomole as a member and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Eunice Onyemanam, the court held that the FCT High Court had territorial jurisdiction to have entertained the suit as it did.

The court also withdrew his rights and privileges as National Chairman of the party including his security details.

After his screening by the party, Obaseki had quit his membership of the APC with speculations rife that he’s about to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fulfil his re-election ambition.

It is not yet clear if he would rescind his decision following today’s move by Giadom.
