Jussie Smollett is now facing a felony charge for claiming that he was a victim of a hate crime.
According to the New York Times, the “Empire” actor was charged on Wednesday night with staging the assault he reported to Chicago police in January. And law enforcement officials have said that a grand jury had heard evidence and that local prosecutors then charged him with a felony count of disorderly conduct.
Recall that the actor told the police that, while walking in downtown Chicago, he was confronted by masked men who hurled homophobic and racial slurs at him, and announced it was “MAGA country,” a reference to President Trump’s campaign slogan.
Investigations revealed that the actual “attackers” are two Nigerian brothers who reportedly were paid by Smollett to stage the attack.
Last night, a video surfaced showing the moment the brother bought the items in their possession when they supposedly attacked the actor.

Smollett’s legal team had yet to speak up as at press time.
