Jordin Sparks and her family are in mourning.
Yesterday, the singer took to her social media to announce the passing of her step-sister, 16-year-old Bryanna Jackson, who died on Tuesday of complications with sickle cell anaemia, a disease she has been battling all her life.
“Bry went peacefully to Heaven,” the singer’s mother, Jodi Jackson, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. “I can’t help to think [that] she’s smiling just like this. Thank you all for your prayers.”
Jordin had revealed Bryanna’s complication when she shared this on her Instagram Story: “Please keep my little sister, Bryanna, in your prayers. She’s suffering from complications from sickle cell and is in the ICU fighting for her life.”
And later, after the news of Bryanna’s death surfaced, the American Idol winner noted that not only has she lost Bryanna, she also has lost her little cousin Q, and also her good friends, Rasula Buttler and Leah LaBelle, who died yesterday in a car accident.
“Four Angels in a week. My heart is just so heavy & broken. I’m in shock, numb and feel everything all at the same time,” she wrote.
This is touched the hearts of many people, as fans are sending in their condolences.

Four Angels in a week. My heart is just so heavy & broken. I'm in shock, numb and feel everything all at the same time. Leah & Rasual (one of my closest friends and her amazing other half who also was a great friend), Bryanna (my step sister) and Q (my little cousin), you were such bright lights in this crazy world. You made everyone better just by knowing them. And your smiles made anyone's day better. The world is less sparkly without you in it. Rest In Peace and Power. I love you forever. Find Miles and hug him for me. ♥️ Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Don't ever skip a chance to tell someone you appreciate them or how much you love them. Please, please continue to cover their families and our family with thoughts and prayers. #unicornsdontdie #sicklecellsux
#PrayersUp for them.
